July 2014 Summary

July was a great month full of travel and family! We spent most of the month in Texas but spent some time in Kansas and Missouri as well.

We had a family reunion and celebrated the 4th of July at my Grandpa Riches home in Pittsburgh Kansas. You can read more about it here.

Following the reunion my parents and siblings drove to Branson Missouri to spend a week together. You can read more about it here.

My little sister-Alisa drove back to Texas with me. I am so grateful for her help especially since Hannah was so sick.

When we got back to Texas my Uncle and his family left for Nauvoo so my sister and I did a lot of exploring. We went to the Heard Museum.

Ali loved the butterfly garden.

We went to the Stockyards in Fort Worth.

We met up with our friends-The Mourtensen's again. We ate at an amazing restaurant-Hard 8.

Our kids loved playing together!

We loved window shopping for real leather boots and belt buckles!

We went to the Beach.

This is easily one of my favorite pictures...ever!

Joe celebrated his birthday! James was so excited to give him a Wii controller!

We visited Joe at work and went out to eat with him.

We got a picture at the B&G's.

We went to the Perot Museum.

We got to see Baby Brinleys Blessing.

We took more silhouette pictures at bunny hill.

The kids had a lot of fun playing together. We even played outside in the heat.

I had a lot of fun taking their pictures.

The girls had fun making messes together, some accidental and others not so much.

One of the kids favorite spots was "green slide park," a small park on the block.

Hannah found a new favorite toy...the vacuum.

Joe and I went to our first major league baseball game, we watched the Rangers play the Yankees!

Branson

My kids and I spent a week in Branson with my parents and some of my siblings. It is one of those trips that I look back on and just laugh. We had some fun moments together and I really did enjoy being with my family but overall it was a really long week. We had some problems with our resort including no air conditioning which is miserable in the middle of summer in Missouri. We also had a lot of sickness going around and all needed a good nights sleep.

The resort we stayed at was really pretty at night. We enjoyed the lighted drive way and catching lightening bugs.

The kids loved the fountains and catching frogs.

We also had fun walking along main...so much to see.

My loved the fish hatchery.

We went to the Dixie Stampede show, which was amazing!!

The kids loved the Tracks and riding the rides.

James loved collecting happy meal toys from McDonald's! He carried them with him everywhere and every time we passed a McDonald's wanted to stop.

We had fun swimming!

We played at the resorts arcade and game room!

Ali loved helping me take care of Hannah.

The kids loved being with their cousins. They thought it was super cool to wake up together.

My Grandpa and Grandma Smith came to visit!

Kansas

We celebrated the 4th of July in Kansas with my Grandpa Riches and family. It was a wonderful weekend filed with great conversation and lots of fun! I really enjoyed watching my kids get to know their great grandparents.

Riches Family Photo

We went to Chicken Mary's...a tradition in the family.

We fed the cows.

Played in the yard.

Got to know my cousin Megan.

We spent a night at Grandpa and Grandma's house, the kids loved sleeping on bunk beds. After a night in bunk beds the kids were not excited to stay in a hotel.

We went to a 4th of July pancake breakfast.

James got to help with the flag ceremony.

Afterwards, Grandpa showed us the university he used to teach at and the house he built and used to live in...it's the home my mom grew up in.

We spent the day visiting with family, playing games, and learning our family history. We also had a few workshops, I  learned how to fix minor plumbing repairs and how to make amazing pie!

The kids went swimming.

We had a turtle race. James thought this was awesome!

My favorite thing was showing my kids lightning bugs. They all thought they were magical and I loved watching them experience them for the first time, it brought back tons of memories from my childhood. Ali actually got chigger bits all over her legs from spending so much time chasing these.

We watched fireworks!

The kids did a few sparklers too!
