December 2014 Summary

December was a magical month! The kids were so excited about everything Christmas and the month was full of fun activities and traditions shared with family and friends.

One of our favorite traditions is adding a new Christmas book to our collection each year. We all go to the book store together and pick out a book, this years book was The Polar Express.

The kids loved setting up the Christmas tree, soon after I finished putting the lights on I found James and Ali laying under the tree looking up through the branches talking about how excited they were for Christmas. It was a sweet moment that took me back to my childhood.

The kids each put their special ornaments on the tree, even Hannah put hers up with Joe's help. Each child gets an ornament each year, this years ornaments were BYU nutcracker ornaments.

Our 2014 Christmas tree...

I snapped a few quick pictures of the kids in their Christmas PJ's (another tradition) in front of the tree. I love how these photos show their personalities.

We are part of a babysitting swap group and had 12 kiddos over to watch the Christmas classics: Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman.

We made gingerbread houses. Hannah was so excited!

Had lots of hot chocolate...

The kids and some of their friends acted out the Christmas story as we narrated from Luke 2. I thought it was cute that the gifts the wiseman chose to bring were photo books.

We spent New years Eve with my family in Logan and had a lot of fun talking, playing games, sledding and making gingerbread houses.
We spent a lot of time playing in the snow.

James and Ali had a ton of fun laughing and playing together! I really enjoyed the break, my favorite moments were watching James and Ali laugh and play together...they got so excited together too! Hannah got excited just because her siblings were excited.

One of our crazy moments was James coming home from school and realizing that he cut his hair...it looked horrible. I tried to fix it but ended up buzzing it. James had to do lots of jobs and write a letter to his teacher.

Another crazy part of the month was trying to figure out what Hannah could and couldn't eat. We realized towards the end of November that her tummy was really bothering her and towards the beginning of December she started breaking out in rashes and hives. After lots of experimenting and doctors visits we found out that she is allergic to dairy.

Overall the month was wonderful, We look back on the crazy moments and laugh and look at the magical moments and smile. We truly are grateful for the many blessings we enjoy!

November 2014 Summary

November was a BIG month for our family full of BIG decisions!

Joe received two job offers and after lots of networking, research, prayers, and trips to the temple we are excited to announce that we will be taking a job in Michigan this upcoming June! (I will write a future post with more info in the near future.)

I decided to start a photography business...not just taking occasional photos of friends but an actual full on business complete with a website! I took the huge jump and purchased my first full frame high end professional camera and am so excited!!! I will be launching my photography website in January.

We took a trip to Moab! This was the perfect little get away with our family. We really enjoyed the day together talking, driving and hiking. The kids hiked to Delicate Arch and did a great job, James and Ali walked the whole way!

James lost his first tooth! You can read more about it here.

The kids discovered a new favorite food and asked for it every snack time...puff Cheetos.

Hannah pulled all the books off the bookshelf at least 4 times a day...she loves reading books. A few of her favorites are: Goodnight Moon, Baby Food, Black Bear Black Bear What Do You See and any book with a dog or farm animals in it.

We had lots of fun going on walks and playing in the leaves.

We spent a lot of time at the park.

James and Ali loved playing our Wii U!

This is Hannah right before bed. She loves to wear her boots and is full of attitude. We laugh that she wears her boots with her pajamas:)

We picked the rest of our roses and got the bushes and yard ready for winter.

We spent Thanksgiving with Joe's family in Cache Valley. I love going back to the Valley we grew up in, it is beautiful!

Thanksgiving dinner...

The kids loved playing with their cousins and Sam the dog. Hannah is obsessed with dogs.

We had an amazing Christmas party with Joe's family and Santa. You can read more about it here.

James Lost His First Tooth!

James lost his first tooth! He has been walking around with his finger in his mouth constantly wiggling it for the past 3 weeks.

When he first noticed it was loose he got really excited and then worried...he had me check to make sure that it was okay for it to be loose. When I told him that he was going to loose a tooth soon he went straight to his Kindergarten class and announced that he had a loose tooth!

He had two of his friends Max and Evelyn over and was playing with them when he bit the corner of a soft anywhere chair and his tooth fell out.

I was sitting in the front room when I heard an "Oww" from James. I then heard a "My tooth!" He was so excited, especially to have his friends over when it happened.

After taking the pictures below James asked for a plastic bag and then ran and put it under his pillow.

The tooth fairy left him a golden dollar which he kept with him in his pocket until he went to the dollar store and bought a toy. He lost his tooth on a Wednesday and was so excited to show his Kindergarten class his new golden dollar for show and tell the following day.

Palmer Christmas Party

We have an annual Christmas party every year with Joe's family. The same Santa that visited Joe when he was a kid still comes to visit at every party. It was a fun night well spent together with family!

Ali was so excited to see Santa:)

He gave her a baby alive.

Hannah didn't know what to think, she didn't cry though.

Hannah got a bear that closes its eyes and makes noises.

James was super excited too! He got his first Nerf gun.

The whole party I kept tearing up and tried to take in every moment. Next year we most likely won't be able to go to the party because we will be living in Michigan. These gatherings are the things I am going to miss the most.

October 2014 Summary

We really enjoyed the fall weather and spent a lot of time outdoors enjoying the beautiful fall colors. One of our favorite memories from the month was having a picnic up Provo canyon under these beautiful trees.

We enjoyed watching General Conference.
Joe took James out to dinner before going to the priesthood session.

 We visited my Grandpa Hinkson.

James kept busy with Kindergarten. One of our favorite parts of the day is walking to and from his school to drop/pick him up.

Ali loves this sign hanging on the fence and every time we pass it thinks she is so smart because she can read it. "I love you, too!"

James and Ali finished up Soccer. It was fun to have them both play at the same time! I couched James team which was an adventure. James thought it was awesome that I was his couch...I know that won't be the case for long.

We went to Jaker's Pumpkin Patch three different times. We loved the hay ride, corn and straw maze, big slide, haunted house and hunting for the perfect pumpkins.

Our favorite part was the baby animals, they even had a baby kangaroo.

We had lots of family visit and had a great time hiking the "Y" and eating ice cream at the creamery.

We fed the ducks at the duck pond.

We carved our pumpkin family. James thought it would be cool if we all had square noses so that we looked like a family. Hannah got really into carving and loved the pumpkin guts/seeds.

We went to lots of Halloween parties...I think 4 different parties:)

We all dressed up as Winnie the Pooh characters which Joe was not thrilled about but the kids talked him into it. The kids and I love Winnie the pooh and the kids ask to wear their costumes whenever we watch the movie:)
